ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE ACQUATIC COASTAL AREAS ADJACENT TO THE MARINA DE PORTIMÃO
According to the Blue Flag Program for vessels regarding environmentally sensitive areas, the users of the Marina de Portimão should be aware of the recommendations for recreational vessels in these areas. In addition to the Blue Flag regulations, you should take special care when visiting the areas mentioned here below.
ZONES OF ESTUARY NEAR THE BRIDGE EN 125:
- Please proceed at low speed.
- Do not discharged the dirty whater in the estuary.
- Don´t disturb the natural feeting grounds.
João de Arens rocky bays and coastline between Portimão and Srª da Rocha:
- Please Anchor in designed áreas.
- Do not discharged the dirty water in the estuary.
Ria de Alvor:

- Please proceed at low speed.
- Do not discharged the dirty whater in the estuary.
- Don´t disturb the natural feeting grounds.
FISH BIODIVERSITY IN THE ARADE RIVER’S LOWER ESTUARY
In a cooperation agreement with the Marina de Portimão, the Fisheries Research Group and The University of Algarve’s Marine Coastal Science Centre (CCMAR) carried out an inventory and identification of the fish communities around the Marina de Portimão.
